How We Work

Every experiment on the site is performed at least twice by people who did not write it, usually around a table with ordinary objects. If testers get stuck, we rewrite the instruction rather than adding jargon.

Historical references are checked against published scores, recordings and books. When we describe a work such as In C or Treatise, we describe its method so you can learn from it; we do not reproduce copyrighted scores.

We separate conceptual instructions, which you perform with people and paper, from software. We do not sell tools, and we do not promise that any system will compose for you. The decisions remain yours.
